Learning patience from the hour glass

Consider the hour-glass; there is nothing to be achieved by rattling or shaking; you have to wait patiently until the sand, grain by grain, has run from one funnel to another.-John Christian Morgenstern

In today’s world, we want everything now. We do not want to wait. We think that getting what we want immediately will give us happiness. But, when we get it, we are often not really happy. We need to have patience to see that if things do not go our way, we have to stay calm and use the time to reflect about the other things you want to do in your life.

The important things in life takes time, there are ups and downs in all lives and one needs to be calm, needs to be patient for things to happen at their own pace. Just like we cannot force a tree to grow overnight, there are some things that take time and that needs patience.

Patience is not something we are born with. It is something that we acquire. If we stay calm as much as we can, then emotions cannot control you. And in times of hardship and disappointment, that patience will put things in perspective and help us stay in control.

Be patient.
