A mind that wanders(thinking of the past, future and what might never happen) is unhappy. This ability to wander helps us reason, learn and plan but it makes us unhappy.
On the other hand, a mind that is focused(living in the moment) is happy.
This is something that all religions and philosophies teach and now there is also scientific evidence.
To balance the ability of the mind to focus and to wander is important. Mindfulness and meditative practices can help us do that. They can make us more at peace and happy.
