Stories 2: All things happen as they should

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. For days he scanned the horizon but he saw nothing. With a piece of broken glass and a bit of dried tinder, he was finally able to start a fire. And, he eventually managed to build a little hut to protect him from the elements and store a few possessions. One day, while he was scavenging for food, some embers caught the hut on fire and he arrived at his home to find his little hut in flames with smoke rolling up the sky. The worst possible thing had happened. Everything he had was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief and anger. He cried out, “God! How could you do this to me?” The next day, he was awakened by the sound of a boat approaching the island! “How did you know I was here?” asked the weary man. “We saw your smoke signal,” came the reply.
