The Craving Brain: How To Create New Habits

We have seen how habits work. But what is the secret to cultivate and grow new habits. The secret is craving. Craving is what makes cues and rewards work. Craving is what powers the habit loop.

There are three things that you need to cultivate a new routine which will turn into a new habit:

  1. Find a simple and obvious cue.
  2. The cue should trigger the routine. The cue should also trigger the craving for the reward to come.
  3. Clearly define the rewards
