Tibetan Nine Round Breathing Practice Meditation

Before beginning this highly effective meditation for calming the mind, remember to take a few deep inhalations and a few deep exhalations and then return to normal breathing. Then follow these three steps:

  • For the first three breaths, breathe in through the right nostril and breathe out through the left.
  • For the next three breaths, breathe in through the left nostril and breathe out through the right.
  • For the last three breaths, breathe in through both nostrils and breathe out through both.

You can close and open the nostrils using your thumb and fingers as shown in the following figure:
